Dr. Paul Kaplan, or “Dr. Root” as he is widely known in this area, has been practicing as an endodontist in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for over 21 years.
He received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine and while at Penn simultaneously received his Masters in Education degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. He received his specialty certificate in endodontics from the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. While at Buffalo, he was awarded another Masters degree in oral science for pioneering research he completed in the field of digital subtraction radiography. His research was instrumental in bringing about the digital radiography systems that we use in dentistry today.
Dr. Kaplan has been honored nationally as one of America’s Top Dentists in the field of endodontics for 16 years in a row by the Consumers Research Council of America. Locally, he has been recognized as a Top Endodontist in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for the past seven years.
In addition to treating patients in a traditional clinical setting, Dr. Kaplan has served on the faculty at both Tufts University’s School of Dental Medicine and Boston University’s School of Dental Medicine for the post-graduate endodontic residents. He currently chairs the endodontic department through U. Mass Memorial Hospital where he educates the next generation of dentists and endodontists.
Dr. Kaplan is and has been an active member in the Rhode Island Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the American Association of Endodontists, where he served as a member on the councils of peer review, ethics and judicial affairs, and insurance reform.
Away from the office, Dr. Kaplan enjoys quiet time with his family, teaches tennis, and is engaged in volunteer activities in and around his community.
